THE ASSUMPTIONS
Everybody ready for an election? It's every where! You can't avoid it and for good reason. Have you noticed this election has been reaching a broader audience this time? More people attuned to the issues? There is something going on here.
The United States of America is at a real "gut check" point of reckoning within its maturity cycle as an empire. Yes! The U.S.A. is an empire. Our tentacles reach far and wide now. We touch the entire globe. The real issue in this presidential election is that we (Americans) need to take a hard look at "HOW" we are touching the entire globe!
While you are at it you might want to catch some of Ron Paul's debate excerpts. He is the only candidate espousing the right logic to curtail this nonsense and ultimately eliminate the CIA…it has become a rogue organization and doing more harm than good. I like this idea!
Hey! All candidates listen up! Here's an issue we want some reckoning on:
· We are 6 trillion dollars in debt and the U.S. dollar is weakening. One barrel of oil cost $100 in the U.S. but only $75 in Euros because their currency is stronger. Our debt is to blame.
"So can you please add this item to the top of your ‘issues' list?"
Here's another one for you:
· Would the trillions of dollars we are spending on the war engine to extend our empire be better used at home to solve some problems? Do you think the world might thank us for this?
Consider this; if we took a few trillion here and added the CIA and FBI budgets in…YES! We have enough money to solve a whole bunch of problems! We're rich! This is the precipice we find ourselves on as Americans. We are the richest country in the world and we are totally misusing this wealth.
Here is a radical idea. Instead of using our military power to conquer (like the Romans, Greeks and Ottoman empires did) let's use it for a higher purpose. We have one of the most sophisticated logistics systems in the world. It moves equipment, ammunitions, food and medical supplies and tons of everything all over the world. What if we used this to move food and medical supplies to the world without guns? Isn't this a better representation of who we Americans are?
Unarguably, history has documented the maturation cycles of past empires. They mature and fall in exactly the same way. The USA is now at a critical point in this cycle. It is up to us how we handle it. We can continue to follow the paths blazed by prior empires and fall or we can change the course! We no longer need to conquer the world. If we invade let us do it with something worthy and our enemies will be converted to our friends.
The United States of America is about to be defined, once again, by Americans. It is up to us to decide what we all stand for. When you come to a reckoning with this answer you will vote with the right criteria in mind. The USA is no longer recognized for the good we do in the world. Isn't it time we started using our wealth to clean up this tarnished reputation?

Excellent article. I write on this site and problog to the very same issues. I have adopted an approach which unfortunately is in my opinion our last hope. Now while I also like much of what Ron Paul says unless there is a tremendous outpouring by those who never vote on Election day he will not make it. Sorry 60% just do nothing but gripe. So my campaign is this. To try to get every single voter who really wants change to change CONGRESS. It must start in very single state. We do this by voting every single currently sitting encumbent out who does not adhere to the principal America first. We identify them via their records and what they themselves speak to. Now that is a tall order but it sends a message loud and clear. In my opinion there is no choice in either party and we will continue down the path you have outlined herein. A no vote is a proxy vote which we already do. Good article, best wishes RTM
