THE ASSUMPTIONS

These are the stories CNN is tracking today.  CNN is describing us.  God created human beings and this is what we are being here. You are not excluded.

The CNN Wire: Saturday, July 21

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/07/21/saturday/index.html

Take each of these events and explode them backwards into time and what you will find are human beings with intent to manifest these events. There are no accidents involved.

Most of you will first deny that you a part of this. Well, which planet do you live on?  Collectively, we as a human race constructed this. Is this the best idea we could collectively come up with?  We all reside in the frameworks we designed and support.

How did Osama bin Laden choose to hate instead of love us?  How did you choose to hate instead of love a terrorist?  When you awoke today; did you find a new reason to love a terroist? You see, you are the same. We are all the same. When a terrorist awoke this morning do you think he discovered a new reason to love you?

Remember that you do not make any choices for the terrorist nor can he make any choices for you.  Imagine if the United States decided to take it’s entire military logistics engine (without weapons) and start feeding the people in Iraq, Afganistan and Palastine.  Would this be a better reflection of us?  Our current reflection has us facing the terrorist with a gun.  This is who we are. This is who they are. We are giving each other nothing to love. Not very complicated is it? Try this with your spouse. Try it at work. Our own experience proves how this formula works perfectly.

CNN: Thanks for providng us a mirror to see ourselves.  I think we can all do better than this. Yes, I love you for vividly reminding me each day of what I am not so that I may choose to be who I am. Today, I will love a terrorist and send him something I have never given him before…love from me.

In our most fundemental state of creation we will each start with a base emotion about each other.  This will produce the headlines.  I am a writer. So I think I will begin here. You will begin there. Will you do something today to give me a reason to love you? Killing my friends isn’t the place to start. If you would like to provide me the best reason of all then at a minimum, don’t bring me your intent to kill. And in return, at a minimum,  I will love you for it.

With all due respect, Mr. Taylor, your article is a little naive. Terrorists are born to kill. They train their children before their children are old enough to attend school. A great part of what we are is determined on our cultures and some people are evil and you can not love evil nor do you want to. Our country was attacked and innocent lives were lost. As me and my wife were pouring our coffee, we saw the world trade center attacked. We saw all the mayhem and we lived through it. Are you saying that we should turn the other cheek and love the murderers? Unlike you or me, their intent is to kill and they have no respect for humanity because they are fanatics.

Robert, your due respect accepted. I have felt your passion also. Indeed, terrorist are trained to hate and kill. By contrast, the Klu Klux Klan is trained to hate black people and Jews but I don’t think that shooting them all is the answer. In the recent Republican debates one candidate made the comment; “We should ask ourselves why they desire to kill us so badly?” Giuliani blasted him for asking. The answer is simple. We have given them no reason to love us. I am confident that if the general population was fed by us every day they would turn on the insurgents and no longer allow them to kill us. Why? It is hard to manifest the desire to kill someone feeding your family. I think it is worth a try. Imagine an entire country, like Iran, showing up without arms and feeding you. Would you really want to kill them? Imagine an entire country, like Iran, showing up with guns and killing your family. Would you love them for it? A thought worthy of consideration.

James, what a wonderful world we would live in if your beliefs could ever become a reality. As i want to believe your view and would whole heartedly live that way, i'm afraid that "what is" and "what we would like it to be" are a far reach. I'm afraid that hugging a terrorist laced with bombs will only get me blown up. Fanatic insanity can not be cured with love, understanding, or complacency anymore than mental illness or child molesting can. I have given no man reason to hate me but , had i been in the World Trade Center, i'd be just as dead.

Gary, your fear of "what we would like it to be" is shared by many. I fully understand it. Even so, how we show up on someone's doorstep defines us...not them. I was actually thinking "what we would like US to be". This is the only part of the formula we actually control.
